Girls lacrosse: John Jay beats Mahopac, 20-14

The John Jay girls lacrosse team jumped out in front of Mahopac early and never looked back, scoring an impressive 20-14 win on Wednesday at home.

The Indians (9-4) took a 1-0 lead just 15 seconds after the opening draw, on a goal by Molly O'Reilly, and were up 4-1 about five minutes into the game..

Mahopac (8-3-2) never got closer than two goals after that, when they cut the deficit to 6-4 with 13 minutes left in the half.

With Lauren Murray dominating draw controls, the Indians ran off five straight goals to go up 11-4, and took a 14-6 lead into halftime

Two Sarah Lang goals to open the second half gave John Jay its biggest lead, 16-6.

Lang finished the game with five goals and two assists, while O'Reilly had four goals and four assists. Murray also scored four goals, while Hannah Wear had three goals and an assist.

Delaney Spencer, Jenna Yasgur, Liz Sheeran and Hanna Bocklet each scored one goal, while Spencer and Kiley Gorman each had one assist.
