Girls lacrosse: Fox Lane holds off Indians, 14-11

Fox Lane outscored the John Jay girls lacrosse team 7-1 over a span of 17 minutes in the second half, to overcome a 9-7 deficit and defeat the Indians on Monday in Bedford, 14-11.

The Indians, who had won five straight games, dropped to 5-3 on the season.

The teams traded the lead throughout the first half, which end in a 7-7 tie.

John Jay opened the second half with goals by Kyley Gorman and Hanna Bocklet to go up 9-7.

Kate Burbank answered for the Foxes at 22:43 to make it 9-8, and then four straight goals by Sammy Jo Tracy, in a span of 2:29, put Fox Lane up 12-9 with 15 minutes left. John Jay never got closer than two after that, as the Foxes controlled possession most of the remainder of the game.

Bocklet led John Jay with three goals, and Kelsey Davey and Hannah Wear each scored two goals. Gorman, Jilli Schell, Lauren Murray and Sarah Lang also scored.

Lang also had two assists, with single assists from Molly O'Reilly, Davey, Gorman, Murray and Delaney Spencer.

Clare Hogan had six saves, as the Foxes finished with a 20-18 edge in shots on goal.

Tracy led Fox Lane (3-2) with six goals.
